Welcome to the Episcopal Church – a series of encounters between the curious and the more seasoned travelers on our faith journey. We follow our journey through the Episcopal Church because this is the place where our spiritual needs are met and where we believe we can engage in our own ministry to further the Kingdom of Heaven.

These encounters will discuss the history and polity of the Episcopal Church, the Bible, worship, spirituality, theology, outreach and ministry of the Episcopal Church.

Our first encounter occurred on September 11, 2013 with the meeting of the Diocesan Council of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island met at Emmanuel Church. As a follow-up to this meeting, we will discuss the polity of the Episcopal Church (or how we organize ourselves as a body) with the (very general) history of the church.

We will be (broadly) following Christopher Webber’s book,

    Welcome to the Episcopal Church

. It is available in both treeware and electronic formats from Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble if you wish to purchase it.

This book will not be provided during the course, nor is “homework” prescribed. If you are interested or have further questions, please use this blog to ask your questions or to make comments. You must subscribe to the blog, and all comments are moderated before they are posted.
